The San Diego Foundation has awarded more than $610,000 in El Camino Fund grants to nine nonprofit organizations that coach, finance, and support small business owners across San Diego County, timed to Hispanic Heritage Month.
The grants fund counseling and training, including work through the North San Diego Small Business Development Center hosted by MiraCosta College, where entrepreneurs like Juana Ruiz are building food businesses with that support. The foundation's 2024 State of San Diego Latinos Report puts entrepreneurship at the center of how Latino San Diegans build family wealth and a stronger local economy.
